Installing, starting up, and servicing air-conditioning equipment can be hazardous due to system pressures, electrical components, and equipment location.

GENERAL
These instructions cover the installation of the accessory cord-connected kit for 265-v packaged terminal air conditioners or heat pumps. Use this kit when electric plug and receptacle are used as an alternative to a hard-wire application. Kit contains a plug and cord assembly (with access cover plate) and one screw. (Screw part no. AL79AU216.)


IMPORTANT: The cord-connected unit requires an accessory subbase, part no. SUB-BASE, with a field-supplied receptacle. See Table 1 and Fig. 1.

INSTALLATION

WARNING
Disconnect all power to unit to avoid possible electrical shock during installation. Place unit in OFF position.

1. Install accessory subbase according to accessory instructions.
2. Remove front panel of unit according to instructions shipped with unit.
3. Remove one screw attaching smaller access cover plate to control box. See Fig. 2.

4. Remove 2 screws on front of control box cover. See Fig. 2. Save screws for later use. Swing cover down to open control box. This provides access to unit amp connector. See Fig. 3.

5. Pass end of cord-connected kit amp connector through cover hole in control box cover. See Fig. 3.
6. Plug 2 amp connector ends together. See Fig. 3. Reattach access cover plate to control box cover with one screw provided in accessory cord-connected kit. See Fig. 2.
7. Close control box cover and use 2 screws removed in Step 4 to refasten.
8. Install receptacle outlet in subbase location shown in Fig. 1.

9. Plug service cord end of accessory into subbase. See Fig. 2.
10. Replace front panel of unit.
11. Turn power on. Start unit according to instructions shipped with unit.
